The world of blogging is awesome and somewhat overwhelming! To keep consistent with posts and comments seems overwhelming! However, the benefits to students and teachers has all the ingredients of being an awesome tool for communication!

As a science resource teacher I find myself wondering if posting relevant science news and curriculum ideas for the teachers I work with would be helpful. I would love to receive feedback from teachers about a lesson I conducted in their classroom or a unit idea I helped them incorporate into their teaching. Since I do not have my own class of students, I'm not sure I would receive much feedback from the students I come in contact with at 6 schools. I have thought it might work to ask classes to respond to my blog about a concept, experiment, or lab that another class across town is doing also. Finding the time to successfully incorporate meaningful blogging is a concern I have as it relates to the time involved in the daily requirements that exist in the elementary classrooms and each subject matter classroom in the middle school.

  1. In your position, student blogging may not be feasible - and that's OK! The 23 things program is all about exploration and finding the tools that work for you - and that's what it's all about. Don't go looking -- the right fit will come to you....

  2. I would love to respond on your blog after one of your science lessons. I am sure it would be beneficial for your planning and would be great to get feedback. However; with all of the demands on elementary teachers and only 30 minutes of planning time a day, I really don't think I could possibly fit it in. In the perfect world...

  3. I identify with your comment: "Finding the time to successfully incorporate meaningful blogging is a concern I have as it relates to the time involved in the daily requirements that exist in the elementary classrooms and each subject matter classroom in the middle school."

I have often thought the same about all of the technological tools I have explored. My ideas are infinite, but my applications seem limited. The disconnect frustrates me.

PS: I was relieved to see there is someone as behind as me in reference to the number of "things" we need to do. I got a late start but find myself taking way, WAY too long on each one. Maybe we can keep pace and cheer each other on.

    PPS: Is this Holly?
